Consider/Approve Furniture Bid for Hillcrest and Lake Road Elementary Schools Classroom Additions |

Preliminary Matters: In addition to advertising, we solicited bids from J. C. Educational, Howard D. Happy, and Virco for the purchase of classroom furniture for the Hillcrest and Lake Road Elementary Schools classroom additions. There were ten (10) separate items which made up the entire bid package. The attached summarizes the individual low bids we received from J. C. Educational and Howard D. Happy. Virco did not submit a bid. The purchase of classroom furniture for the classroom additions was contemplated during the budget planning process for the current fiscal year and is included in the FY09 budget as approved by the Board in the building construction line item. The low bids total $28,445.93, with J. C. Educational submitting the low bid on eight (8) items totaling $27,501.00, and Howard D. Happy submitting the low bid on two (2) items totaling $944.93.
Staff Recommendation: I recommend approval of the low bids submitted by J. C. Educational in the amount of $27,501.00 and the low bids submitted by Howard D. Happy in the amount of $944.93. |
